2018 Moon Phase Calendar

The one poster page 2018 Moon phase calendar shows the phase of the Moon for each day of the year, apogee and perigee, librations, conjunctions with and occultations of other objects, maximum and minimum lunar declination, and largest and smallest Full Moons for the year, Full Moon Names for each month, and Julian date and upper culmination (transit) time for Polaris for the first of the month. This is useful for polar aligning a telescope if you know when Polaris is directly above the north celestial pole.

2017 Moon Phase Calendar

The one poster page 2017 Moon phase calendar shows the phase of the Moon for each day of the year, apogee and perigee, librations, conjunctions with and occultations of other objects, maximum and minimum lunar declination, and largest and smallest Full Moons for the year. New for 2017 is the addition of transit time for Polaris at 10-day intervals. This is useful for polar aligning a telescope if you know when Polaris is directly above the north celestial pole.

New for 2014 is the addition of major meteor shower events. The calendar can be downloaded as a PDF file or a JPEG image file.  The poster is 11" x 17", so it is best to use the PDF file which will enable you to scale the calendar to your printer paper size.

Increasing Rate of Observations

The first CCD observations of a variable star started on September 13, 2010, and only 13 observations were made over the balance of the year. After getting familiar with technique and methods, it was not long before observations began to increase year-over-year. By the end of Q1 2013, observations were more than the previous three years combined. At that rate, and as new projects were initiated, 6,929 observations were made in 2013. The goal of 10,000 observations by 2014 was achieved. The goal of 50,000 observations was achieved in September 2016.

Keeping Snow Out of the Dome
